All The Things She Said
by tATu
"I keep closing my eyes but I can't block you out"

I don't know why this song popped into my head just now but it is one of those songs that I desperately pretended I didn't like for about a month when I couldn't hide my love of this song anymore. I love everything about it. And I love everything about the video. I didn't love their Eurovision entry because their singing was totally off... but with the help of pitch correction, they become these amazing sirens. I own both of their albums and a couple of singles because of this video. Sad, no? No. It's something to be proud of. I mean... Russian accents! There was a song they did called Stars, I think. I actually really really liked that. But I thought this one would be easier to find because of the content of the video.

This One's For You
by Ed Harcourt
"Crack the shell of the hardest heart"

I continue to think of this song as being mine and Claire's song. My step-dad used to play it in the car and I fell in love with it and found out that she loved it too. Anyway, I love it to bits. The lyrics are so tender without being clichéd. I love the imperfection of his voice too...

Running Up That Hill
by Kate Bush
"You don't want to hurt me
But see how deep the bullet lies
"

Earlier, I thought that I ought to do a Kate Bush song today... so here it is! I first heard this song as a Placebo cover and then I started listening to Kate Bush. Her voice is just divine.

Baby's on Fire
by Brian Eno
"Photographer's snip-snap
Take your time, she's only burning"

Another song I fell in love with thanks to Velvet Goldmine. I love the build up of this song... it's so darn intense. And Brian Eno's voice is quite nice on this one. I've always thought he looks a bit like Elrond from Lord of the Rings. Anyway... Enjoy :)

Exit Music (For A Film)
by Radiohead
"Sing us a song,
A song to keep us warm..."

I finished this sculpture yesterday on the theme of 'Forbidden Love' so I thought it would be appropriate to post a song with the theme of forbidden love :) I love the lyrics in this song because they are so tender... it's rather sweet. I think it was one of the first songs by Radiohead that I really fell for.

The Truth About Cats and Dogs (is that they die)
by Pony Up!
"Give my beat box a squeeze
Bring me back to life."

This was another song I found using Pandora a long, long time ago. This track is really rhythmic. The vocalist has a typical power-pop voice. It's pretty and high with a hint of attitude, kind of like Avril Lavigne or Katy Rose. I love female vocalists, hehe.

I Wonder
by Disney
"I wonder why each little bird has a someone
To sing to; sweet things to..."

This is a little bit of a strange choice but it is a song that has always stuck in my head since I was little. The vocalist has the most spectacular voice... it's almost ghostly in it's beauty.

Another Day In Paradise
by Phil Collins
"He pretends he can't hear her"

I just typed along with that intro... that is how amazing this song is. Phil Collins has this amazingly beautiful voice. It makes me confused that he was just the drummer in Genesis. Why did they neglect him?! Anyway, enough of that. I love the accompanyment in this song. The intruments are all perfect and suit his voice so well. Generally, I think Phil Collins' music is really well produced and the production of a song can make so much difference to how good it is.

Like most of the CDs I have, I bought Phil Collins' Greatest Hits second-hand, when I had just enough money to buy a CD every few weeks. I remember buying the greatest hits and then coming back a few weeks later and buying another of his albums.

Street Spirit
by Radiohead
"Cracked eggs, dead birds
Scream as they fight for life"

I actually got into Radiohead by accident because I was pretending to like them because I was trying to impress someone. Teenage-dom does some stupid things to you. Most of all, I completely fell in love with Thom Yorke's voice. It is so different but beautiful all the same. For one of my favourite films, Velvet Goldmine, he did some of the music with Brian Ferry and a host of others and his voice just shone through. Enough of that though.

This song has a beautiful guitar part the whole way through and it becomes more and more intense as it starts to build up until the end which is perfection, dropping down to just Thom Yorke and the guitar part. Yum.

Don't You (Forget About Me)
by Simple Minds
"Will you recognise me
Call my name or walk on by?
"

So, this song found me when I was watching The Breakfast Club, like it probably found many other people. I can't resist a bit of 80s music. It's all so fun and makes me feel very nostalgic even though I wasn't there! The chord progression in the guitar and synthesizer is so uplifting. Everyone loves this song so you should too <3

Colourblind
by Counting Crows
"Coffee black and egg white"

I first heard this song in one of my favourite films, Cruel Intentions with the beautiful Sarah Michelle Gellar. Never has she been more beautiful than she was in that film. Getting away from that for just a minute, this song is virtually impossible to hate. The piano is completely heavenly and the vocals are so smooth. I love all the imagery as well... it's so rich and pure.

Earth Song
by Michael Jackson
"Did you ever stop to notice
the crying earth, the weeping shores?"

Michael Jackson again! What a beautiful song. This song is totally overwhelming. There is nothing I can say about this to do it justice.

Bem Bem Maria
by Gypsy Kings

I went to see the Zorro musical at The Garrick on Friday and it was totally breathtaking. I have a real thing for latin music which probably stems from the fact that my family would dance the lambada at Christmas, hehe. I found myself in goosepimples with wet eyes for the majority of the musical. So here is my favourite song by the Gypsy Kings. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Blue American
by Placebo
"Put my neurosis on a shelf"

I was listening to this song a little earlier in the car. I haven't listened to much of Black Market Music for a while now because my copy disappeared mysteriously. Anywho, this is one of my favourite Placebo songs. I'll probably post a few more Placebo songs in the next few days, assuming I can hold of links!

In This World
by Moby
"Lord, don't leave me all by myself"

Yum. I am feeling very overwhelmed tonight so I thought I'd choose a song that makes me weepy. This song is incredibly intense with desperation and passion. I love it. And it has a pretty cracking video too :)

Little Susie
by Michael Jackson
"She fought so hard to live..."

I have been a Michael Jackson fan for as long as I can remember and this was one of my favourites because it was so emotional. This song is a little unusual because of the choral music at the beginning but once it gets into it, it has that classic Michael Jackson sound - it's a little like a musical in a way. God, I would love to see a Michael Jackson musical... that would be awesome. I won't be too surprised if people don't like this one as much as some of my other suggestions but personally, this song touches me and has made me cry a few too many times.
